Where to start, my company rented a Compact Elite manual for a week. Arriving at the Avis office and having paid the extra insurance online, I am told that I do not YET have full coverage and, although I am already 200 £ of insurance in, I now need to pay for a Wind shield coverage for a "small" 8£ per day although I selected the full coverage option online (more expensive than the car itself). Then to my surprise, the car is neither a Compact, nor a manual not elite... is was a Dacia Wagon Jogger with a massive scratch on the side, bear in mind I was going to Marseille and Cannes for sales representation, a big car is impossible to managed in these 2 cities, hence the COMPACT request. I therefore complained to the agent, saying that I needed what I asked for and with no pressure whatsoever, told me I should be happy because it was an upgrade. So Mr agent, as I told you, a request for a compact manual should be for a compact manual, not a wagon automatic previously crashed... He then find it funny to joke saying that I was expecting a ferrari or a BMW... very nice. I was then asked to wait 25 min for my car to be ready.. the final touch of this amazing experience. Fast forward 7 days and I hand back the car in, I then realised on my invoice that they charged me for a pre-paid petrol tank and also asked me to bring the car back full, another joke from the agent I suppose... 75 EUR + the 200 EUR deposit I am still waiting to get back on my account. By the way I have the receipt

Wow what a mixed experience! The negatives: all on the return. Finding the way in to drop the car is a very difficult hunt, with no tips or advice from them when you rent it. You have to go into a parking garage that you sort drive into on a sidewalk. If you don’t live here it’s super confusing. Once u finally got there I was shook up from Barcelona traffic and one way streets without directions (google was no help). They insisted I park the car in a tight spot. I said no thanks let me just give you the keys. Nope, they refused. Next they overcharged me. If I hadn’t been careful I would have missed it. The charge and estimate were almost $100 euro apart. After another 20 minutes of being stubborn (me) they saw it and fixed it. So, I can’t recommend which sucks because the woman who rented to me was very nice and the car was fine. But the men who I returned to were not pleasant. A BS way to end a week.
